Therapeutic Music

I started using the music of Liquid Mind over ten years ago when I first became a Reiki practitioner. And since then, have never found anything better in allowing a client to fully relax and enjoy the benefits from my sessions.

Liquid Mind was created by songwriter and composer Chuck Wild.

When Wild started releasing the Liquid Mind albums in 1994, the first persons to use them were alternative health care practitioners, chiropractors, and massage therapists, followed soon by more mainstream medical practitioners who report utilizing the music in clinical situations to assist in relaxation.

Liquid Mind V: Serenity which is my own personal favorite, is a peaceful and soothing musical journey designed to help you relax deeply during meditation, massage, yoga, rest, or in times of stress. For many, it is a wonderful background for massage, meditation, healing, yoga, Pilates, Reiki, shiatsu, or reflexology.

The fifth in Liquid Mind’s elegant electronic series of slow relaxation music, takes the listener to a place of deep calm and tranquility.

This gentle album has been used by some people for things such as:

* relieving stress

*by parents to help quiet hyperactive children

*by insomniacs to assist themselves in going back to sleep in the middle of a difficult night

*by others to relieve tension after a busy day at work

So it is with great pleasure that I highly recommend the music of Liquid Mind.

If you would like to view the complete collection, and even sample it, please take a relaxing journey over to Liquid Mind.

Pure Essential Oils

Many people have asked me where they can find quality grade, yet affordable essential oils.

Because I also use essential oils when sharing Reflexology and Reiki, I’ve tried many brands. Some were ridiculously way over-priced, while others were so low it made me question their quality.

Reflexology Recliner

Eight years ago when I was first certified as a foot reflexologist, I began searching for a portable recliner that I could use when making out-calls.

I needed something comfortable, compact, and durable.

One day I happened to walk into a Brookstone Store, where I spotted a fabulous looking recliner which I found out was made by a company called Lafuma.

Now what’s really interesting is that the recliner was not advertised as something for reflexology. It was actually a chair to be used for home use.

But after trying it out I knew it would be perfect, because it was absolutely one of the most comfortable portable recliners I’d ever sat in.

It was also the ideal height and width for administering a reflexology session.

So I made the purchase and couldn’t be more happier. And every client who sits in it immediately comments how wonderful they feel.

The cushion part of the chair is suspended from a metal frame with elastic woven cords, so it gives the feeling of “gentle buoyancy.”

The recliner also came with an adjustable headrest.

The chair easily reclines and returns to an upright position without any effort. And once reclined, the chair can be locked in that position.

What makes Lafuma recliners so special is something called Zero Gravity.

A zero gravity recliner is a chair that allows you to rest with your feet raised higher than your heart. By extending your lower legs and feet above your heart, the load on your spine is reduced, allowing your vertebrae to decompress after a full day of walking, standing, and sitting upright.

The recliner model I purchased (which is identical to the photo above), has a cloth padded seat, however, Lafuma also makes recliners in a special material for outdoor use.

So if you’re a foot reflexologist searching for a comfortable recliner that’s durable and portable, or even if you’re someone who simply wants a quality recliner for home use, please head over to Lafuma.

They have many models and colors to choose from with prices ranging from $129.99-$269.99.

You’ll find the investment well worth it.

 Enjoy your recline!

Caring For Your Soles

About six years ago I had the wonderful opportunity to manage a free-standing Origins store in Philadelphia.

And although I enjoy most everything that Origins offers in the way of skin care, hair care, and body care products, I found their foot care products to be superior to any other I’ve ever used.

There are five products within the line that can be used in pairs or individually.

*Foot Rest: Soothing foot soak
When your feet feel on fire from having been stuffed into shoes, pounded on pavement, or standing around too long, feel how invigorating Australian Eucalyptus dispels toxins while cooling Menthol ousts the ouch to put you on friendly footing again.

*Sole Searcher: Smoothing foot scrub
You’ll feel lighter on your feet as finely ground Lava Rock sloughs away rough and tough layers to smooth and soften thick-skinned soles.

*Reinventing The Heel: Mega-moisture for dry, cracked feet
This heavy cream soothes your soles with the richness of Rose Fruit and Jojoba Oils. Super-sloughing Salicylic Acid gets rid of pesky rough patches. Softening Shea Butter smooths cracks to put feet back on easy street. And tingly Menthol provides a refreshing kick.

*Step Lively: Energizing foot cream
You’ll be back on your feet with a spring in your step when exhilarating Mentha Piperita and stimulating Wintergreen travel across the “reflex points” in your feet to help channel energy throughout your body. Rose Hips Oil combats dryness to soften and smooth your feet.

*Leg Lifts: To rev up tired legs (this product is my personal favorite because it’s magical)
Nature’s cooling leg-lifters, including invigorating Menthol, Cypress, Peppermint and Cedarwood, tingle, tone and de-tense tired thighs and calves to add new glide to your stride.

*Origins can be found in selected department stores in your area.

So if you’ve been soul searching for quality and effective foot care products, please take your feet over to Origins…where you’ll discover a great deal of  Sole.

A Timeless Art of Self Healing

For those of you who may be looking for a clearer understanding of reflexology, I highly recommend Ann Gillanders video Reflexology – “The Timeless Art of Self Healing.”

I first discovered this video while I was training to become a certified reflexologist. I was looking for additional information that would assist me to delve even deeper into this amazingly effective self healing modality.

Ann Gillandersis one of the foremost practitioners of Reflexology in the world today, and she is recognized as a pioneer of modern Reflexology. Her school in Essex, England is a direct result of her effectiveness as a healer and the tremendous popularity that has grown from it. She is one of Reflexology’s best teachers and an internationally recognized author. Amazingly, she achieved all this in spite of being severely handicapped.

Not only do I recommend this video to the novice, but also to the professional reflexologist. I myself refer to this video time and time again.

The step-by-step demonstrations are cleverly interwoven with fascinating “footnotes” and tips, providing you with ample time to fully learn and perform each technique. It’s fun and entertaining.

 Running Time: 75 minutes

The video also comes with a wallet-size reflexology chart which shows the various reflex points located on the feet.

So if you’ve always wondered about reflexology, please allow Reflexology -“The Timeless Art of Self Healing” to introduce you to it’s many benefits.

And if you would like to find out more about Ann Gillanders and her plethora of knowledge, please check out her friendly and helpful website All Reflexology.

One Reiki Within All Styles

Yesterday, I received a comment from my friend Grace on the previous post entitled, “Essential Oils and Reiki Distant Healing.”

She shared her experience of a session she had had, and was curious to know if there were different “styles” that Reiki practitioner’s used.

This comment caused me to share some of my personal opinion with her, and then inspired me to share more of it on a post.

So, thank you Miss Grace!

I am a level 2 practitioner; attuned to the Usui Shiki Ryoho System of Natural Healing, and have been practicing since 1997.

I use Reiki on myself almost everyday, and have a small practice out of my home. Most of my practitice involves sharing this beautiful energy with those infected and affected with the HIV virus. This work has been a blessing.

To me, Reiki is a neutral energy. However, the beauty of Reiki, is in it’s ability to use each practitioner, in their own unique way. Once attuned, Reiki is the teacher.

This, I believe, is the result of so many wonderful styles.

Each recipient will be drawn to a particular practitioner, because of “something” that resonates between them and the practitioner.

Reiki is like ice cream. You have your choice of vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, or cookies and cream…however, it’s ALL ice cream.

It is One Universal Energy….with LOTS of flavors. And like all ice cream….it’s ALL good.

I do believe however, their is one COMMON ingredient to Reiki…which is infused and felt within ALL Reiki styles.

And that’s the ingredient of LOVE.

LOVE is the “magical ingredient” within Reiki.

I honor and respect ALL styles of Reiki, because each one has a “special taste of being” for each one of us.

So…Bon appetite!

And be well.

P.S. And Reiki is also…fat-free!
