Aromatherapy…for your Hair?!

The effects of stress, chemical hair treatments, over washing, and the use of heated hair style devices strip the hair of it’s natural oils, making it dry, tired, and very unhealthy.

Using essential oils can help restore the hair to it’s optimum condition, penetrating deep into the hair shaft to strengthen the hair.

There are a wide array of suitable oils for this purpose, however, the four that I mention here are adaptable to all hair types.

Aromatic hair treatments are not only beneficial to the hair and scalp, but they also produce a sense of “well-being.”

 

Pure Essential Oils

~Rosemary~

~Lavender~

~Atlas Cedarwood~

~Geranium~

 

*Each of these oils simultaniously have an uplifting and calming effect.

 

Usage

~Apply to dry hair.

~Prepare in a small glass kitchen prep-bowl – 2 drops of each essential oil (stir with a toothpick).

~For short hair add 1 tsp.- For medium hair add 1 tbsp. – For long hair add 2 tbsp. of Jojoba carrier oil (stir with spoon).

~Start by applying the mixture to the scalp (massage in well), and then through the hair (use a wide-tooth comb to evenly distribute the oils to the ends of the hair).

~Allow this to remain for 30 minutes.

~Remove by first applying a generous amount of shampoo, then slowly add warm water until a good lather is achieved (you may wish to do this twice).

~This can be used on all hair types and applied once a week for good hair maintenance.

 

Option

~You can place a plastic bag over your hair (for deeper penetrating results).

~Take this 30 minutes to relax, listen to some soothing music…and breathe in the vapors.

You’ll think you’ve died and gone to “Aromatherapy Heaven!”

 

Extra Hare Tip

~Add these essential oils to an unscented shampoo, so that you will receive their many benefits each time you wash your hair.
