Therapeutic Music

Front

I started using the music of Liquid Mind over ten years ago when I first became a Reiki practitioner. And since then, have never found anything better in allowing a client to fully relax and enjoy the benefits from my sessions.

Liquid Mind was created by songwriter and composer Chuck Wild.

When Wild started releasing the Liquid Mind albums in 1994, the first persons to use them were alternative health care practitioners, chiropractors, and massage therapists, followed soon by more mainstream medical practitioners who report utilizing the music in clinical situations to assist in relaxation.

Liquid Mind V: Serenity which is my own personal favorite, is a peaceful and soothing musical journey designed to help you relax deeply during meditation, massage, yoga, rest, or in times of stress. For many, it is a wonderful background for massage, meditation, healing, yoga, Pilates, Reiki, shiatsu, or reflexology.

The fifth in Liquid Mind’s elegant electronic series of slow relaxation music, takes the listener to a place of deep calm and tranquility.

This gentle album has been used by some people for things such as:

* relieving stress

*by parents to help quiet hyperactive children

*by insomniacs to assist themselves in going back to sleep in the middle of a difficult night

*by others to relieve tension after a busy day at work

So it is with great pleasure that I highly recommend the music of Liquid Mind.

If you would like to view the complete collection, and even sample it, please take a relaxing journey over to Liquid Mind.

Enjoy!

Reflexology Recliner

LaFuma-Padded-Recliner_360

Eight years ago when I was first certified as a foot reflexologist, I began searching for a portable recliner that I could use when making out-calls.

I needed something comfortable, compact, and durable.

One day I happened to walk into a Brookstone Store, where I spotted a fabulous looking recliner which I found out was made by a company called Lafuma.

Now what’s really interesting is that the recliner was not advertised as something for reflexology. It was actually a chair to be used for home use.

But after trying it out I knew it would be perfect, because it was absolutely one of the most comfortable portable recliners I’d ever sat in.

It was also the ideal height and width for administering a reflexology session.

So I made the purchase and couldn’t be more happier. And every client who sits in it immediately comments how wonderful they feel.

The cushion part of the chair is suspended from a metal frame with elastic woven cords, so it gives the feeling of “gentle buoyancy.”

The recliner also came with an adjustable headrest.

The chair easily reclines and returns to an upright position without any effort. And once reclined, the chair can be locked in that position.

What makes Lafuma recliners so special is something called Zero Gravity.

A zero gravity recliner is a chair that allows you to rest with your feet raised higher than your heart. By extending your lower legs and feet above your heart, the load on your spine is reduced, allowing your vertebrae to decompress after a full day of walking, standing, and sitting upright.

The recliner model I purchased (which is identical to the photo above), has a cloth padded seat, however, Lafuma also makes recliners in a special material for outdoor use.

So if you’re a foot reflexologist searching for a comfortable recliner that’s durable and portable, or even if you’re someone who simply wants a quality recliner for home use, please head over to Lafuma.

They have many models and colors to choose from with prices ranging from $129.99-$269.99.

You’ll find the investment well worth it.

 Enjoy your recline!

I did a lot of research on various companies when I decided to add hot stone work to my reflexology sessions.

I finally made the choice to order my stones from Th.Stone and I’m so glad I did.

Th.Stone offers stones harvested only from areas of high energy vortex’s. These smooth (naturally formed) stones of (basalt) warm and sedimentary (cold) mineralogy, orbicular in nature, differentiating in mineral composition their smooth texture also facilitates the gliding process.

Not only did I find their stones high-quality, but I also liked the fact that they offer a wide variety and very affordable stone packages, which include: a heater, stones, instructional manual, and DVD/Video instructional video.

Some of the packages offered are:

*Massage Stones
*Pedicure Stones
*Facial Stones

They also supply specialty stones which can be individually purchased or in sets.

You will find accessories such as: massage oil, instructional books, and videos.

For those of you who may be looking for a clearer understanding of reflexology, I highly recommend Ann Gillanders video Reflexology – “The Timeless Art of Self Healing.”

I first discovered this video while I was training to become a certified reflexologist. I was looking for additional information that would assist me to delve even deeper into this amazingly effective self healing modality.

Ann Gillandersis one of the foremost practitioners of Reflexology in the world today, and she is recognized as a pioneer of modern Reflexology. Her school in Essex, England is a direct result of her effectiveness as a healer and the tremendous popularity that has grown from it. She is one of Reflexology’s best teachers and an internationally recognized author. Amazingly, she achieved all this in spite of being severely handicapped.

Not only do I recommend this video to the novice, but also to the professional reflexologist. I myself refer to this video time and time again.

The step-by-step demonstrations are cleverly interwoven with fascinating “footnotes” and tips, providing you with ample time to fully learn and perform each technique. It’s fun and entertaining.

 Running Time: 75 minutes

The video also comes with a wallet-size reflexology chart which shows the various reflex points located on the feet.

So if you’ve always wondered about reflexology, please allow Reflexology -“The Timeless Art of Self Healing” to introduce you to it’s many benefits.

And if you would like to find out more about Ann Gillanders and her plethora of knowledge, please check out her friendly and helpful website All Reflexology.

Reflexology for Seniors

Boogie Down!

One of the things I feel very passionate about, is maintaining an honor and respect for our Seniors.

The Japanese culture strongly believes that as a person grows older…they become more valuable.

This too, is my belief.

Many Seniors lead full and active lives, and reflexology provides a valuable contribution to the maintenance of both physical and emotional health.

The contact of “touch” through this modality is especially beneficial for alleviating feelings of isolation, which may result from loneliness or bereavement.

For those Seniors who may feel a bit uncomfortable about undressing; reflexology provides the ideal tool (since only the removal of shoes and socks are required).

It is a gentle modality that can be administered with either the client lying down, or seated in a recliner.

Reflexology helps with a variety of physical concerns for Seniors; however, I would like to concentrate on one of the most common.

Arthritis

*Arthritis is a general body condition that can come from a variety of sources and is generally associated with an inflammation of a joint.

Focus Reflex Points

Solar Plexus

*To reduce over-all body tension associated with arthritis.

Kidneys

*Useful in eliminating waste materials that can gather around the joint.

Adrenal Glands

*To help reduce inflammation of the joints.

Lymphatics

*To help remove toxins from the body

Neck/Spine/Shoulders

*To help with over-all deep relaxation.

Knees

*To greatly assist with knee pain.

*Please review the Foot Map Page to familiarize yourself with the location of these reflex points.

Application

*With either your thumb or index finger – gently, press and rotate over the complete area of each reflex point.

*Work approximately 1 minute on each point – then repeat the process 2 more times.

*This can be done 2-3 times a day.

Remember – reflexology is cumulative; therefore, it may take a few days to start feeling the results. Be patient.

Caution Care

*Be especially aware of fragile bones and thin skin – always work gently.

*To find a professional reflexologist near you, please refer to the Find a Practitioner link on the sidebar.

When used with care and respect, Reflexology can help to rejuvenate, balance and restore the entire body.

Allow your feet to guide you…to a happy and quality life!

Be well…Seniors!
